  • Our Girl Scout Workshops help your Girl Scouts complete requirements for their badges and patches.

  • Badges and Patches are included in the registration fee. 

  • Our workshops are open for individual scouts or whole troops. ​

  • Parents are welcome to drop off their Girl Scouts for the workshop, and are not required to stay. Doors open 10 minutes prior to the workshop start time.

  • Girl Scouts registered for two workshops in the same afternoon are welcome to stay during the break. You do not need to pick them up. Just send them with a snack.

  • PLEASE NOTE NEW POLICY FOR REGISTRATIONS MADE AFTER OCTOBER 9, 2019:
    A $5 cancellation fee will be applied to all cancelled Girl Scout Workshop registrations made after October 9, 2019. Refunds (minus the cancellation fee) will be provided up to 48 hours prior the the start of a Girl Scout Workshop. Please email info@discoversciencecenter.com or call 770 641-9336 to cancel your Girl Scout's registration. Refunds or credits will NOT be provided without 48 hours prior notice or for no-shows. As many of our workshops will have a waitlist, the 48-hour policy allows us time to contact those on the waitlist that would like to participate in the workshop.

GIRL SCOUT BOOK DRIVE
Beginning at the Girl Scout STEM Expo (October 26th) and continuing through November and December, we are running a book drive to support the five Little Free Libraries we help keep stocked during the year. Each Girl Scout that brings five books to us at the STEM Expo or to one of our Girl Scout Workshops will receive a Book Drive Fun Patch. All books (kid, teens and adult books) are welcome to be donated to the libraries.​

Science of Style (Seniors)

Seniors learn how to distinguish different chemicals and ingredients of popular beauty products in order to create their own blends, examine fibers under microscopes to decide what fabrics are good for each season, and discuss society's role in fashion trends while creating their own ways on how to be more fashion forward. Seniors earn their Science of Style Badge.

Juniors and Ambassadors learn camera techniques of shooting, composition, and lighting, how to find and compose your subject through a photo scavenger hunt, and how to edit your images with different digital tools. Girls will create a portfolio of their work to share with your fellow artists. Girl Scouts are encouraged to bring a tablet, smartphone, point and shoot camera, or they can share one of ours. Juniors earn their Digital Photographer Badge, and Ambassadors earn their Photographer Badge. Limited to 12 participants.

Juniors and Cadettes learn how to create accurate biological drawings of living organisms, as well as specimens in a microscope, with emphasis on relative size and scale. Girls also use their creative talents to sketch an abstract or landscape drawing inspired by the organisms they drew in class. Juniors earn their Drawing Badge, and Cadettes earn a STEAM Fun Patch.
