YOUNG EXPLORERS CAMPS - Ages 4-5

LITTLE BUILDERS
May 30 – June 2 (4 days)

Our Little Builders design and destroy towers using blocks, cups, LEGO® and marshmallows, learn about tools, build and test bridges, and create art projects, including building their name with everyday items.

LITTLE GARDENERS
June 5-9

This week, we explore soils, seeds and garden creatures, examine different fruits and vegetables, and create garden-inspired art. We spend lots of time outside this week.

LITTLE SCIENTISTS
June 12-16

The Little Scientists use beakers and pipettors and other science tools, mix potions to create fun reactions, make slime and experiment with magnets. Campers make their own paint to create beautiful watercolor masterpieces.

LITTLE ECOLOGISTS
June 19-23

We spend this week of camp exploring nature. Preschool campers investigate insects and worms, learn about weather and water, study flowers and trees, and how they grow, and create nature-inspired art.

LITTLE ASTRONOMERS
June 26-30

3. 2. 1. Liftoff! Our Little Astronomers study space by learning about the planets of our solar system, experiment with sunlight, make and launch paper rockets and create constellation art.

LITTLE PIRATES AND MERMAIDS
July 5-7 (3 days)
Ahoy, Matey. It’s Pirate and Mermaid Week! This week we design and sink pirate ships as we explore buoyancy, learn about mermaid’s sea animal friends, and create and search for pirate treasure.

LITTLE SHARKS
July 10-14

Our Little Sharks learn how cool sharks really are. They learn about different types of sharks, where they live and how big they get, investigate shark teeth, look at real (preserved) sharks and make sandpaper shark skin art.

LITTLE DOCTORS AND VETS
July 17-21

Preschoolers get to be doctors and veterinarians this week! They learn about doctor’s tools and try them out, investigate how some body systems work (yes, burps and farts will be discussed!), make blood and scabs and learn how to care for pets.

LITTLE MARINE BIOLOGISTS
July 24-28

This week, Little Marine Biologists explore the creature of the beach and coral reef. They experiment with salt water, learn who makes the shells on the beach, observe crabs, anemones and fish (and maybe even hold a sea urchin) and create art projects with sand.

LITTLE GEOLOGISTS
July 31-August 4

We spend this week playing with rocks, looking at fossils and digging for dinosaurs. Campers learn about dinosaurs, make their own crystals and paint their favorite rocks.

LITTLE SUPERHEROES
August 7-11
This week we experiment with the science of superhero powers. We explore flight, elasticity, magnetism and more. Kids are welcome to come dressed as their favorite superhero (villians welcome too)!

LITTLE MAGICIANS
August 14-18

Is it magic, or science? Our Little Magicians make liquids change color, learn how to magically reverse an arrow, make a penny disappear and a rubberband jump, and get tricked by optical illusions, all with science.

LITTLE ARTISTS
August 21-25

Little Artists learn about the science of art this week. They make and use natural paints, create clay nature prints, learn to create balancing sculptures, and make upcycled art from old electronics.

LITTLE ENGINEERS
August 28-September 1

This week, our Little Engineers are challenged with creating strong structures, playing with catapults, exploring circuits, constructing a marble run, and building a dam.

Sign your little ones up for a fun-filled summer at Discover Science Center. Kids will learn about sharks and jellyfish, explore our solar system and launch rockets, and investigate cells and body systems. Our science camps are enhanced with art and creativity projects to help kids integrate what they have learned during the week. 

 

Camp Information:

Young Explorers Camps (ages 4-5)

  • 9:00am-12:00noon - $150/week

  • Tuesday and Thursday Day Camps available - $30/day

  • 50% off sibling registration

  • Campers should bring a snack and a water bottle each day.
