Discover Science Center’s SciTech Summer Program is an opportunity for motivated middle school students interested in science and technology to take part in higher-level, hands-on STEM experiences and training.
Who should apply? We are looking for future leaders and innovators to join us this summer! Rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders (ages 11-14) with a strong interest in any area of science and the use of technology to advance scientific education and research can apply for the SciTech Program.
Why should my child participate? Students in the SciTech Program will:
have unique science education and training experiences,
learn practical applications of scientific principles,
explore career paths they never knew existed,
expand their knowledge about scientific concepts,
practice innovative laboratory techniques, and
use their critical thinking skills with discussions of ethics in research.
Plus, it is going to be FUN!
How are students selected for the program?
Class sizes are limited in order to maximize our scientist’s one-on-one interactions with each student, and to enable each student’s full participation in hands-on laboratory activities. Students are selected based on recommendations from teachers/mentors/other individuals that can attest to your child’s interest in science, motivation and classroom behavior. Only one recommendation is required, but more than one will be accepted and considered. Students are not selected on a first-come-first-served basis; however, late registrations may not be considered.
