Our homeschool courses are designed by scientists and educators to supplement homeschool science curricula through fun, hands-on science experiments and activities. A minimum of 6 participants is required for each course.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to several requests by parents and students, we have made the decision to more strictly adhere to the minimum age for each course. Students must be the minimum age indicated for a course in order to enroll. Hopefully we have enough options for each age group to satisfy your child's science interests.
FALL 2017 HOMESCHOOL SCHEDULE - MIDDLE SCHOOL (AGES 10-14) 12 weeks: September 11-December 15 (no class October 9-13 or November 20-24)
Middle School Physics with Labs Tuesdays, Sept 12-Dec 12 (no class Oct 10, Nov 21) 9:30am-12:00 noon Ages 10-14 Middle School Physics is a conceptual exploration of physical science encouraging students to think about real world situations where physics is in use. Students perform and design hands on experiments and activities, collect data and graph their lab results in order to analyze and fully understand concepts such as laws of motion with changes to mass, speed, force, and conservation of energy. This is not not a number-crunching course, however, formulas are discussed as a way to understand relationships between variables. Instructor: Rebekah Gibson, MSc $400 REGISTER
Middle School Chemistry with Labs (Continued) Wednesdays, Sept 13-Dec 13 (no class Oct 11, Nov 22) 9:30am-12:00 noon Ages 10-14 Basic chemistry principles involving atoms, elements and compounds are taught by building models, using the periodic table of elements, and conducting lab experiments. We look at properties of liquids and solids, investigate acid-base reactions, experiment with polymers, and more. This is a continuation of the chemistry course from the spring, however, prior experience with chemistry is not necessary, but useful. Instructor: Rebekah Gibson, MSc
